has anyone heard anything else about this?

There's so little detail there that it's hard to know exactly what supposedly happened, who did the accusing, and why didn't they say something sooner if they knew abuse was going on.

Did the accusers have an axe to grind about this nurse? Is there documentation throughout the person's life that shows this nurse was out to kill her?

Before I even consider forming an opinion, I'd like to see more information. This article was very vague.

Also, if other employees thought the patient was placed in a position that would kill her, why didn't they move her themselves before she died?

I have no clue what happened. On the news the son is saying that the nurse positioned his mother in a way that would have caused her to die. It didn't go into details or anything. This is just very very sad. I was just wondering if anyone else had heard anything about this.

This situation needs more input and information before I would say the nurse was guilty of harm. Being fired is not proof of guilt, afterall, LTC facilities have a history of firing a employee that brings any type of negative publicity to the facility. I am sorry for the family and the nurse. I hope it works out for the best.

But 12 years of Parkinson's disease led to cancer. She spent that last week of her life at the Newark Healthcare Centre.

"I was one that didn't want to see her take her last breath. So, I was outside the nursing home until it happened," [the son] said.

Licking County authorities said that [the LPN]moved and turned [the pt]in her bed shortly before she died. They believe she moved her in a manner in which [the LPN] allegedly thought would kill the woman.

Something doesn't seem right with the story. I don't like the fact that the LPN's name was released to the public, when there is so little info, if this is retaliatory or vengeful action on the family's part, the LPN's career is over. If she's guilty of something, then the action taken by the BON and DA will be public record.

I don't understand how moving a Parkinson's pt with cancer can kill them unless the patient was face down with airway occluded by a pillow, after all it sounds to me as if it was a normal "turn q2" to prevent pressure ulcers. How advanced was the cancer...was the patient terminal??

Was the patient a full code and CPR was withheld??

The fact that the family member making the accusation wasn't in the room when the pt died really bothers me...this might be a case of dysfunctional grieving.

Then again, as I was told recently in my own little drama at work, "It's not whether abuse really occurred, it is the patient's and the family's perception of what happened that matters. We can suspend you on the accusation until a investigation is complete."

I checked the OBNs website and she has restirctions now. How sad! Not fair to the nurse at all.
