Anyone graduating nursing school in May 2010 and going Active duty (army)?

Published

Hey there everyone! I was accepted into the ANC in September and will be graduating from my BSN program in May of next year. Just wanted to see if there was any others out there in my boat who will possibly be going in the same time. I'm so excited!

Hey!

I'm a little behind you, but i'm graduating in May 2012 to be an Army Nurse!! How do you like the program so far? Have you been to LDAC??

You aren't too far behind me!! It will fly by! I still have about 5 months of nursing school left, so I haven't started anything with the army as of yet. I'm in what they call the inactive reserves, so nothing officially happens until I pass the NCLEX. what is LDAC? Are you ROTC?

OH i got it. so are you basically going direct commission? straight to OBC?? yeah i'm on a nursing ROTC scholarship. If it wasn't for the scholarship I would have gone direct commission. ROTC just adds more stress to already stressful school environment but i'll get through!! haha. LDAC would be for strictly ROTC cadets. You will be lucky enough to skip it.

I called the Army and I graduate May 2010 but it sounded like I wouldn't go in till 2011 or something....not sure Army is for me, really hoping to get back in the Navy

After reading different post it appears that most of the slots for FY10 are filled. If you graduate in May 2010 and put in your package now you could leave in Oct 2010 which is the start of FY11. The Navy and AF are about the same so if you want to go military get started now so everything is inline for the 1st board in FY11

duh what was i thinking, for some reason I was thinking Oct 2010 was fy 2010....My recruiter said call back after I pass the nclex, which I took yesterday.....so once I get the results I will physically go in and see him, he didn't seem to interested until I told him I did 10 yrs enlisted already. I didn't realize it was going to be so tough to find a job or go back in once I finished my degree.

Hey, I'm located in Mpls, mn and I'm going to meet with a medical recruiter tomorrow for the army nursing corps. I already have my BSN ( new grad). Is their anyone in MN thinking of joining/ in the process? If so where and what are your thoughts?

What state are you located in surromom? Because tomorrow I have a meeting with a medical recruiter and I has told their is still space available.

I am in San Diego, CA but it shouldn't matter where I am located since it's the military. I don't think I really want to go in the Army anyhow since my husband is in the Navy and I don't want to deal with spouse colocation between two branches.

But please post an update if you don't mind. :)

sure..I meet with him in the morning and I will post thereafter.
