I just passed the pre-entrance test:yeah::chuckle any tips on the oral interview? any info on how you liked the program?? info on what they look for in selecting students?

Me too. I will be going for the same interview.

Hi, Iam glad I found someone. Did you get all your info in to the school yet? Do you have any other info on what to expect during the interview? also were are you located?

Hello to both of you.

I am currently in the program, we graduate in July as you probably know:yeah:

The interview wasn't hard. I think they pretty much know who they are going to choose based on the test and any pre-req's that you submitted when you decided to apply.

The interview is with five or six administrators and the head instructor. They will ask questions such as; why did you apply to this program, what made you want to be a nurse, why should we pick you, and on. Be relaxed and since you already know a few of the questions, try to think up some answers that they may not have heard from everyone else.

Be on time, dress professionally, and be respectful, just as if you were going to your first job interview.

I hope to see you both at orientation night. Good luck and congratulations on clearing the first hurdle. :nurse:

If you would like to you may leave me a message for any other questions you may have about the school.

congratulations for finishing the program? with your class chosen, did you notice anything you all had in common, to why you were chosen over others?. Do you know around how many were chosen for the oral interview? and how long after the interview were you notified you got into the program? is the program hard? thank you dearly for responding....

No problem responding, I know what I was thinking before I got in, and I wish I had some one to answer some of my questions, so I am quite happy to do it for you. :wink2:

Frankly, I could see no rhyme or reason for some of the people chosen for the class. Most had a previous history of CNA work or something similar. Ages run from 18-55 years of age. There were nine males and 51 females. Six have been dropped so far. They told us that there were about 420 people who took the test, and out of that 120 people were chosen to participate in the interview process. Then 60 were chosen, with five alternates. We had all the alternates in place by the beginning of class last year.

They said it would take about a month to six weeks to get a letter telling me if I was accepted, but I got a letter within two weeks. It was so quick, I thought for sure it must be a rejection letter. The class is not so much hard as it is an overload of the senses. They throw a lot at you and you need to be a sponge. After two months clinicals start and some of the pressure eases as far as homework goes. They have dropped students for grades, but they really work with you to try to keep you in the program.

Some other ideas. If you want to, go apply at the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) after you are chosen so they will pay for part of your books. By the way, don't buy all the books at the beginning of class. There are definately some books that are better than others. If I had known, I could have saved some money...

If you want a better idea of what it was like for me, I wrote for a while about what happened every day. I think it was called "first day of school." If you are interested you can look it up by searching for it. It gave a step by step account of what happened the first few months in school.

Feel free to ask more if you like, and good luck on the interview!

Some other questions I've thought of since the previous post:

Do you have a job and do you plan to work while going to school? (They didn't seem hep on people going to work and trying to go to school full time, though we do have several students that work.

What will you do if your source of income dries up?

What is your backup plan if your car breaks down, you get a divorce, someone dies etc?

If you have a problem with a co-worker, how would you handle that situation?

Tell us what you know about teamwork?

I cannot believe someone actually got in the program and walked away and quit.(OH MY GOD!!!) In your last post did you mean they kinda frown on ones who plan to work and go to school? How long was the whole interview? is there anyone in your class that you can't believe they let into the program? if by some mighty act of God I get chosen, what is the one subject, that you would say I should get a head start studying up on. Are most of your classmates cnas? the class is m-f 8-4 right? what is the farthest distance any of your classmates travel for this program? How did you feel after your interview? did you feel you were pretty sure you made it. If you don't mind, were you working in the medical field before this program? I am going crazy asking questions, I just really want to be accepted into the program. anything you can remember helps..:D

Hi, everyone had to have all info into the school by 4:00 on the 28th of march. So now it is wait by the mailbox, for a oral interview appointment.I guess I could start carjacking the mail trucks! Gosh this is driving me crazy!! But just in cause I don't get accepted, Iam looking into my next option. I will keep you posted.

signed, going nuts!

Way to go Shalamar!!!!

Me and some of the other students are sending positive vibes your way, I hope we hear from you soon.

Good luck!!!:yeah:

hi, I was just wondering, all our paper work had to be in by march 28th. How long before notice of oral interviews come. how long did it take for you? thanks for the support!!!!1

Hi, any idea when we will get notification for oral interview?

The interview process has already started. It will probably go on for another few weeks. You should be getting a call at any time.

Don't worry about not getting called yet, you turned your paperwork in at the 11 hour, just as I did.

I have a question for you. Do you know how many people took the test, and how many are going to be interviewed. Last year there was close to 450 people who tested and about 120 interviewed. They usually interview about double the number they will be taking into the program. So, if the numbers are the same, you stand a 50/50 chance of getting in at the moment.:yeah:
