I just noticed on my syllabus for A+P 2.. which is the same CC I took A+P 1 at but a different campus...that the following are not on the list to be covered at ALL
The Immune System
The Lymphatic System
Nutrition, Metabolism, and Thermoregulation
These WOULD be covered had I taken A+ P2 at the same campus I took A+P 1 at ( I know b/c I bought the powerpoints from my AP+1 teacher as I really liked her layout)..but I had to switch campuses for scheduling.
So basically I will finish A+P 2 at this campus...and be 2 "systems" and 1 "area" of education not taught at all. I guess I have to learn them on my own ( I can do this)but I'm really confused as to why 1 school w/ 3 different campuses would have different criteria at each campus.
The only thought I have is that it's a shorter semester ( 10 weeks summer instead of 14 weeks fall)...but I can't imagine just chopping out the entire immune and lymphatic systems.
Has anyone gone through A+P 1 and 2 and had a system NOT covered?

My CC has 3 campuses as well, and all three use the same book and cover the same material in each class as far as I know. It does seem strange that you would miss such a large chunk of material. The 10 week class thing should not be an issue, it's still a 3 (or whatever number) credit class, right?
It's unfortunate that you will probably have to try to cover this on your own. I would definitely bring this to the attention of someone, probably in the nursing program. They should be aware that the science departments on the three campuses (campi? lol) are not all on the same page when it comes to preparing the students who are entering their program. If this was the case, it should be made clear to the students that both parts of A&P must be taken on the same campus.

We never did the endocrine system.
Wow...never did endocrine? We spent a lot of time covering that during A+P 1.

BoonersMom, we are just starting that now in A&P II. Are there any websites you could recommend for it?
Thanks :)
This is really the only one I used
http://www.emc.maricopa.edu/faculty/farabee/BIOBK/BioBookENDOCR.html
I used it to touch base on a few things. What helped me more with endocrine was making charts. Everything has something that excites/inhibits. Then there were the disorders of hyper/hypo ..whatever-ism LOL. I actually found endocrine to be fascinating..it was probably one of my favorite chapters ( or maybe that's because it was after the nervous system which I loathed).
But, anyway, yes I charted everything out. I have a large white-board chalkboard in my room and it was fun doing it. My BF would throw out a disorder like " Cushings" and I'd go " OK, cushings, that's hyperglucocorticoids..that's zona fasiculata of Adrenal Gland...that's excited by ACTH of the A.Pituitary..which is stimulated by CRH from the Hypothalamus....and i'd path it out on the board. Helped a lot!

AMAZING. How could you not have covered this?
That's what I was thinking, too. Here I am concerned I won't get immune/lymphatic but I CANNOT see not covering endocrine. Actually I can't see not covering any of them...hence the reason I am perturbed LOL!

I'm sure they will be covered in detail in your nursing classes
I know- it's actually too good to be true. I know in nursing school I'm really going to hit that system hard!

Our classes are 3 hours long 2 times a week. One day lecture the other Lab. In it we are to cover ALL of the systems. There are quizzed every week on every lab. Along with it a Lab Report (usually 5 pages lonng) etc. There are 4 long exams and a Final in Lecture with 3 Lab Practicals and a final in Lab etc... There is hardly any time to breath LOL! :rotfl:
Anyhow, I feel it is important to cover all you can. You get the most of it.
But if your school does not require it maybe you are going to get it later on in the program? I do not know, but you might want to ask your advisor why the difference.
Good Luck,
