I am trying to get a job as a Care Partner at a local hospital. Can anyone tell me what their experience has been like as a care partner or knowing a care partner?

This may sound kinda silly but what is a care partner???

I don't think it is silly, I haven't the slightest idea. Though I may suspect that it is something like patient care assistant/CNA

Similar to a PCA/tech/NA. Doesn't require a certification - just OJT.

I was one - it's a good way to get to know your way around the hospital. You'll likely do a fair amount of dirty work, but it's useful. Good luck :).

Nurse Ratched is right. You kind of work like a CNA without the certification. You take vital signs, transport patients, help with patients who need bathroom assistance, feeding assistance, and such. Your last year in nursing school, if you work as a care partner you get to shadow an RN and learn the tricks of the trade so to speak. I know at Columbus Regional Hospital in Columbus, IN it pays $9.28/hr on second shift plus awesome benefits (including childcare assistance and dependent care savings account-pretax). I think it is worth checking out if you are going into the nursing profession, though I can't tell you from personal experience yet. I am still waiting to hear from their employment office post interview.
