Hi. Did any of you go to a settlement conference verses a hearing?

I did the settlement conference. Honestly in my case it was better I did that vs the hearing. It still sucked. But it was meeting 6 people compared to 25. The result would have been the same but it was faster to get everything over with.
How did yours turn out
Also, did you have a lawyer
Yes I did have a lawyer. I was looking at 1-3 suspension along with a 3000 dollar fine. We had the chance to negotiate. I ended up not having to pay any fine and got the minimum suspension of one year. Now that I have my license reinstated I can say that looking back a 3 year suspension compared to a 1 year suspension would be so much worse.
I think most people here would agree that you need to get a lawyer. A settlement conference is no joke and it could be your best chance at getting a good result with your board.

Hi Charprepton, ADN. I'm about to go to a board hearing in CA in July. I can't afford a lawyer. I'm going back because I test positive for alcohol in urine and blood. I consulted two lawyers and they are charging 8k-10k. I simply can't afford that because I'm out of a job and with this current Covid-19 situation it's so hard to find a non nursing job. I have to go without a lawyer. Can you share your experience with the lawyer? Thank you
I didn’t have a lawyer. Couldn’t afford one. I did the settlement conference and got 2 years probation , paid a fine, doing random ua’s and 3 na aa meetings a week- online now of course. And I’m working as a nurse.
