Just noticed how bad my nails look. I miss having pretty nails with nice colors. One of the small prices to pay I guess for a successful career.

We are allowed to wear nail polish if we keep it neat. Heck, a few nurses on my unit even have acrylic nails. I guess management isn't paying attention. I get skeeved out by half chipped off polish, which a few of my coworkers sport all the time.

I do wear nail polish. I did have acrylic nails put back on recently but I keep them very short and rounded and I go for fill ins frequently.
I'm always thinking about them and bacteria. I actually wash my hands more now than I do when I had no acrylic nails.

We can wear nail polish as long as there is no chips.

I do not have a clinical rotation in the hospital this semester so I am totally rocking my nail polish! I have nice nails naturally so it isn't bad to go without but I'll miss all the pretty colors once I return.

I always feel bad admitting this, since it seems like such a superficial thing lol but i REALLLYY miss my fake nails sometimes...i don't feel girly, and my own nails are so thin and brittle that they flake and break and make me sad
However, I wouldn't trade fake nails for my nursing career lol
I'll go back to the nail salon when I retire...(In 40 years!)

yes, i totally know what you mean! i miss feeling like a girl b/c as a nursing student, all the students had to wear these really unflattering and boxy grape purple scrubs. and then no jewlery and no nail polish. my god, i feel like a gremlin. i once had a pt tell me i looked like a mid thirty year old who had three kids... what?? i was 21 and a size six...
