I was hired to start with Clarian North this August, it seems very nice and the nurses seemed to enjoy working there. I was wondering if anyone here can give me insight as to whether or not it really is a nice place to work. I am relocating from Pa and am having some serious cold feet :uhoh21: so I guess I want to hear from others that its not a giant mistake :wink2: !

I don't work there, but live close by and have been a patient there. I am a nursing student and that is where I want to work when I get finished. It is a fairly new hospital and people there seem so nice and glad to be there. I am sure you are making a great move. Good luck!!
Thanks! That was the impression that I got too, but as I said, I am a whole lot 'skeered' by the idea of moving that far away and am happy that I didn't have 'rose colored' glasses on when I interviewed

There was an ad in the paper today about Clarion South hiring nurses. Stated that you can make up to 48.00 for a 12 week commitment of evenings/nights. 250.00 for competing orientation and 1000.00 for completing the work schedule.

whoo, that is a 'bit' more than I was offered at North...I wonder if it was for agency work...
No, it had Clarian as the listing employeer. I think this is a per-diem position.....sort of like a travelling nurse. They don't hire you per say, as full time staff.
If you need the phone number from the ad, send me a private mesaage and I will type out what it says in the ad.

Thanks anyway MsFrog, I need benefits as my hubby is self employed...
That makes sense though, when I interviewed they told me about the weekend program, no holidays, no OT or benefits but a sig higher rate of pay...not worth it for me unfortunately.
Thanks for the info, its worth keeping in mind!

Hi! I live minutes from Clarian North and I remember when they opened ( I think 2004 or 2005). I have a friend in my nursing class who work's their as a LPN, and my A&P professors wife works there also. They don't hire just anybody. My LPN friend says that the hospital is rarely busy. Everytime a baby is born in the hospital, they play lullabies
over the intercom. I normally go to ST.Vincent hospital which is minutes from Clarian North, but I took my boyfriend to Clarian North's
Emergency room for chest pain, and the nurses were very good.
Thanks for the input! I think it will be a great place to work, I am just scared over the move, its pretty huge!

I just started at University Hospital downtown and I LOVE it! I will be working on the transplant ICU when it opens; right now I am training in the SICU, and it has been great! I knew I wanted to work for Clarian when I got out of school and I am very happy with my decision. Clarain North is an extremely nice hospital; however, one of my classmates got hired there as a new grad and she did not start out as much as the downtown campuses did so I would check on that. Good luck with your move and I think you would be extremely happy there!

Does anyone know if they only hire RNs with their BSN? I've heard rumor that that's the case.
