Ok...I am 27 years old married, with a 6 yo. I was accepted to an ASN program that starts this fall. The only problem...I haven't taken any of my science pre reqs. The school I am going to does not require you have all of them done, so they include them with the hours for nursing. My deal is that I will be in my first sem of nursing 1 and taking A&P 1 in the evenings two times a week...is that crazy? I won't be working at all though. And nursing is Tues-Fri from like 8-1p. Any advice would be great!!

I am not a nursing student so my advice may not be the greatest. Since you won't be working, school will be your job. If there's no way you can get any classes out of the way before August then I wouldn't worry about it. Just plan to be doing a lot of studying. Its doable, I'm sure a lot of other people have had to do the same. If you can take a class over the summer then try it, it will only help with the stress level. Just remember if you have financial aid and will be attending full-time status then you need to keep the appropriate amount of credits. The program I applied to doesn't require A&P II and Nutrition be completed before entering the program, but they suggest you get them out of the way to focus on the Nursing courses. I have not taken Nutrition yet and if I'm accepted I will be taking it the first semester of NS also. I could take it online, but I don't like that format of courses so I've decided to wait until the Fall. Just plan to study whenever you have a break at school because you'll have your hands full once you get home with your family. I'm in the same situation, a 3 year old daughter and husband and I'm 29.
Congrats on getting into NS and good luck with your program I'm sure you'll be fine.

Hey, I am doing the same thing as you. My school doesn't require any pre-req's before entry into the program. I was able to finish one science (A&P 1), an English class, and a Psychology class. I will still have A&P 2 along with Microbiology to finish while in my nursing classes. I won't be working either so I can focus my time on school.
Congratulations on getting into nursing school!

My school required a & p as prerequisites. I do not think I would understand what was going on in my nursing classes without this background. Nursing classes are going to talk about the body. It may be hard for you to keep up if you don't know terminology and have a basic understanding of how the body systems work. But since your school does not require prerequistes, it's possible you'll be able to do it. I am just saying for me, the things I learned it anatomy, physiology, microbiology, and chemistry have all come up in my nursing classes, and I am only in my first semester.
