I live in the Central Valley. Wasn't too difficult. The trick is finding a place and a preceptor that is a good fit. Don't settle for the first one who says yes. Also, have a backup. Use the CAANP as a resource. Local meetings occur around the state every other month or so.

thank you for your posts!
i'm also applying for FNP online program - considering ISU and now USI as well ..
i also considered UAB but very competitive, they give preference to AL residents first. my friend was not able to get into the UAB post master's for same reason ... i just called them and said, they have very few spots left for out-of-state applicants for Spring 2010. is it the same case with USI? i'm planning to apply to these 2 programs and now i'm thinking if i should apply in other prog as well ..
thanks again!

I'm not sure what the deal is now over at USI. I keep hearing that they are not accepting any more FNP apps because they are swamped, then when I call I'm told they are still taking applications. Best thing to do is call USI nursing and ask for Franchesca. She will give you the straight deal. ISU, too, has a good program.

I'm in Cali and looking into apply possibly this year. A good resource for me was rntomsn.com.
Thanks Tammy79!
I just spoke to Franchesca and you're right about them being swamped. They are taking applicants for PT only at this time which will take about 3.5-4yrs ..
I'm looking into other programs - the rntomsn.com seems to be a very good resource .. Thanks!

I'm looking into the Univ. of S. Indiana as one of my many choices. Can you or anyone else tell me more of what to expect in the program? How are the test for each course? Are they mostly papers? Im finishing my BSN online and they are all papers.
