I graduated from BCC south last august. And if I were you, I would just go there with my certificates such as the domestic violence, med error, CPR- immunizations, physical assessment, ppd........... etc. BEFORE august.
make a copy for yourself before turning it in.
make sure you look at your transcript that all classes from previous schools are in your transcript at bcc- you can check that from the bcc website.
make sure you have your books required, and start reading that Nursing process ASAP.
DOn't buy the bundle they sell at the book store. just buy the required lecture book for process, math, lab, and pharm, and drug guide. honest this is all you need.
DOn't buy that box of supplies until you pass that first semester- there will be a lot of people who buy it before and fail- and you can buy it from them at cheaper price! they want to get rid of their $129 box!!
do get your uniform, stethescope and you will need a lab coat for jan when you go to clinicals because they won't let you wear your own sweater you have to have the lab coat with the school's logo. white shoes without any decoration on them.
tell me if you need to know anything else!
Thanks for all the great information..you answered a lot of questions that were on my mind. Ill let you know if i have any other questions. You were very helpful!

Hi,
I'm an LPN and would like to apply for the LPN-RN transition program next year. I still have to do chemistry and micro/micro lab.
I noticed that on the BCC website, it lists CHM 1033 as the requirement. I took this class at MDC, but was going through some "issues" at the time and came out of it with a D. I was able to pass the lab, but BCC doesn't require it.
So now I am attempting to take the lecture again at BCC. I spoke to an advisor today and she gave me the go ahead. However, once I attempted to register, I only saw CHM 1032 available. Is that the equivalent of CHM 1033?
I haven't taken any classes since 2006, so I'm a bit out of the loop. :imbar Thanks in advance!
Hi Honeybee,
I recommend that you speak to the school before actually selecting that class. Ask if maybe they changed the code. I would pick up the class on your schedule just in case it is a code change, so that you have a seat saved.
Good Luck!
Thanks for the suggestion. I called and was told that it's the same class...CHM1033/CHM1032.
I tried to register, but now I have to do a re-entry application and show proof of residency again. I had no idea, because I did this last year, but still wasn't at a point where I could give school my all. So I never signed up for any classes.
Needless to say, getting started again has been a bit complicated, especially since I thought I had certain things in place and didn't. But it looks like everything is finally covered now. So this is it. No more distractions!! I'm not stopping now until it's over.
Honeybee,
Im so happy for you! I know how it feels to have to start over with school. What matters the most is that you keep your head up high and dont give up! I had many obstacles to cross before getting accepted, but i have so many people in my life to encourage me and help me when i doubt myself. Keep your eye on the prices and you'll see in the long run it will be all worth it!
can n e one b nice enough to respond to me?
