Hi. I worked for 6 years at Frankston Hospital (Peninsula Health) in Main Theatre as a Operating Services Assistant and know of many Psych nurses who work in the main unit there.
At PHC Frankston there is A and B ward.
A ward is acute patients and younger folk.
B ward is for the older patients.
Many of the Nurse's I know have been at Frankston for many years. Too long some of them LOL. They seem to enjoy it and there are LOT'S of percs working for PHC.
However I do know of a couple who, although found Frankston great to work at, the ward was too stressful and they burnt out.
I hope that helps some?
Hi, thanks for the info. I hope to secure a post at Frankston, on B ward by the sounds! Guess I need to be offered a job first! What are the perks you mentioned? There aren't mant perks in working for the NHS (UK)... Are you Australian?
I would have to drag my old book out to list all the perks. Ido remember there is free councelling services with an outside agency for yourself and family members.
And competions runs between wards.
I have gone blank!
I will drag out my book tomorrow if you would like?
I am Aussie through and through and graduate my Diploma of Nursing in 3 more weeks.:bowingpur
Don't wait to be offered a job at Frankston, although they are constantly on offer, just go an make a time to talk to someone. And if you get over here go to the hospital and say you want to work. That's all most staff have done, including me. I had a job 3 days later. they are desperate for staff. i think that's why you have all the perks.
