I am also starting in Fall. I am pretty excited! I went to the July orientation, and meet with the technician to turn in all my stuff on Monday.
Hi Vakarian8811,
Congratulations !!I am excited too!! Tell me on the doctor and dental clearance, do we just get the doctor to sign the blue form? Is there any other forms? and is the immunization list on any specific form? For the background check did it cost more than $98 for you. Mine says $170!! But I do have some alias. Thanks for your help. I have to do the 2 step TB too.
For the doctor and dental clearance it was just the blue form yes. As for the immunizations there isn't a form for it, but you just have to have them print out a sheet of all the immunizations required. I'm lucky and work at a hospital so all of mine was on one sheet, but as long as you have documentation showing you received them I am guessing it doesn't matter how many sheets there are. The aliases may be costing you more, I believe mine was $70 for the background and $40 for the drug screen so $110 altogether.
How many students were in your orientation class? Ours was around 10-15 students.
There were quite a few on list but I would say there was approx 16-20 students present. I need to purchase a ipad for our etext. This will be different from having standard textbooks.
I know, I am more of a physical book kind of guy. I went with the Surface 3. I've been practicing with it and like it so far.
Where did you find the Surface 3? Is it expensive?
In stores they still go for around $500 I believe. I bought mine off of Offerup (the app) for $300. You can find some good deals on stuff that has barely been used.
This sounds like it is a tablet/laptop. Does it acts as a e reader, like a Kindle? To download e books. It has the internet on it as well. I know our books are e books. So I wonder if the surface 3 can handle these downloads? Do you have a keyboard and/or pen? And can you print to a wireless printer? Thank you. I have so many questions.
It's a tablet, but it is basically a miniature laptop. You can download programs such as calibre that act as an e-book library/e-reader, or just download some form of pdf reader, or even the kindle or nook app. So you have options. I am not sure about the printing although I am sure you can. The Surface 3 can definitely handle the downloads I just need to find out what format our books are in before I decide which program would be best to download. I went with the Surface because I usually use Microsoft products and familiar with them. I have the keyboard and plan on buying the pen. I like that I can read my books on it, take notes, and even record whatever the instructor is teaching us and play the audio at home. If you are familiar with Apple products the iPad is probably just as good and would be just fine. I just prefer Microsoft myself. It's just on preference.
I prefer Microsoft and it is what I'm used to. So I will go with that. I did my drug screen and background check. And I have my physical today. I know I have to do a 2 step TB. My dental appt is 8/27. How did your appointment with technician go? Are you moving on to CASAS test?
