Anybody ever take A&P 1&2 TOGETHER?

Not me, but I remember at one time reading some posts from a few of the members who have. Maybe one of them will see this thread and comment. They are MUCH braver than I would ever be.

I looked in the course descriptions section of the school and there was nothing that said A&P 1 is required before A&P 2. I don't work, so I won't have to deal with a work schedule, and have my days free to study.
Thoughts and opinions PLEASE???

Sheesh - that seems like a big task. You might run it by your advisor first, just to make sure it is legal (which it appears to be).

A girl at my college took aP1 and ap2 and chemistry all this summer. She admitted it was tough. She did this all over the summer. My school had never seen anyone else do it. I think she got all A's and a B in chemistry. It would be a huge commitment. Personally, I think it is doable. I took ap1 and chemistry this summer. Not easy, but doable and I got A's, plus I have been out of college 20 years.

I'm taking A&P I and II right now....so far A's. And psych too.

I think it's doable. A & P 2 was actually easier for me. It was just more in depth information of everything we learned in A & P 1. You may have to study ahead in 1 to fully understand 2, but I don't see it being a big problem. We actually used the same book for 1 and 2 at my school. We just did the first half of the book for 1 and the second half for 2. Lots of overlapping info.

I took A&P 1, A&P 2, microbiology, Psychology of Growth and Development and US History in one semester as I was trying to get ready for nursing school. I have a degree in Kinesiology (1991), so a lot of it was refresher for me. I did well and found it manageable, the only hard thing was that I had the same instructor and often had exams in both classes on the same day!! Didn't get much sleep the night before!

I tried doing it when I was first starting my pre-req's, it didn't work for me. I was completely lost in A&P 2!

I think it depends though on whether or not you have any medical background/knowledge. I didn't at the time, so I had no idea what the instructor was talking about. I ended up dropping 2 after the third week and taking it the next semester and I got an A.

I really think you need A&P I completed before you do A&P II. I took A&P I over an eight week accelerated session and loved it. I finished with a high A. I'm taking A&P II now, and it seems to be much more about understanding the body systems. A&P I is more the foundation you need to understand II. That said, you could probably take both and bluff your way through a bit. But my question would be...why? Anatomy and Physiology is the foundation for health sciences and nursing. I wouldn't want my foundation to be shakey/half-way/bluffed.

I'm taking A&P 1 and 2 together this semester along with Microbiology and Spanish 1. So far it isn't too bad, but I also have BS degrees in Biology and Psychology, so like Hellonurse36 much of this is refresher for me. I think the big difference is what kind of background you have, if you are good in science and are comfortable with taking more than one science at a time. It's definately important to understand and be familiar with a lot of the concepts in A&P 1. Spanish 1 is going to be my biggest challenge actually, I've taken French before but not Spanish. I guess everyone has their strengths and weaknesses. Good luck whatever you decide. :)

I am a freshman and my school (its a university) had me take this nursing 101 class, which is just like a general education about campus life and talks a lot about nursing. From what the seniors told us (we had asked them that question), they said anatomy and physiology 1, 2, and microbiology were difficult and suggested against taking them together.

I guess if you already have a degree in biology or something it would not be bad.

OMG!!! I love allnurses.com. I have been looking for a thread on this info for awhile. And then I thought...............Google it, and here it is. Well, a little background...............I majored in Biology for 2 years then I started pre-reqs for nursing school. Thought maybe this isn't what I want. 3 years later I am a MA and an EMT. Nursing is what I want, need, and desire. Anyhow, I had a little girl July 19,2006, and am now ready to get back in it. In Indiana waitlists and school costs are ridiculous. I just cannot wait to start the nursing sequence. I have to have A&P I and II, Micro, Chem( already completed), and a level 100 Nursing class completed by the end of Spring '07. I know its going to b hard work. But u all have encouraged that it is definitely doable. Any feedback on how you did it, would help greatly.
