Any RN refresher courses in Brevard County?

Published

Hi, Does anyone know of any nursing refresher courses in Brevard County? I have been out of hospital nursing for some years and would like to take a course. I didn't find one through Brevard Community College, or the local hospitals.

Thanks, Beth

Specializes in Emergency.

Dont know of any refresher programs so to speak. I know alot of hospitals have intern type programs for new grads. Basicly what they end up being is extended orientations. Some as long as 6 months or more. Dont know if this is something you might want to look in to.

A small bit of advice when you or anyone else reading this thread talk to the HR department ask to speak with the nurse recruiter specificly. I dont know how many threads I have read on this board where nurses complain that they have talked with hospitals, sent a resume and then wait weeks to months for a response. Dont be afraid to follow up and follow up often- the squeaky wheel gets heard.

Hey Beth,

I am in the same boat. Moving home to family in Melbourne in Jan. due to a divorce and have been out of nursing for 15 years. Let me know if you hear anything. Thanks, -ly (Lee)

Hi Beth,

I am not sure if you are still looking for an RN refresher in Brevard or not, but I have just signed up for one that is given by Kane Educational Seminars on Saturday Aug. 8th at the Comfort Suites on Malabar Rd. in Palm Bay. The cost was in the upper 200's but it was the only course I could find. BCC also offers a refresher course that is 8 weeks and includes an optional clinical. You would need to call the school directly to see when the next course if offered. Kane's number is 800-677-5224 or on the web at www.NurseRefresher.com.

Good luck!:wink2:

Hi,

Can you tell me if these courses are state board approved?

Thanks.

Christina

Hello Christine,

I am a MI RN who hasn't worked for 5 years and I am moving to Florida. While trying to figure this out myself yesterday, I discovered to links that may prove helpful. I am seriously considering the online program through the University of South Florida. It may help you, however I have a question for you...

I am from Michigan, so I know the reputable colleges and universities in Michigan, but am unfamiliar with Florida.

Is the University of South Florida considered a good university in Florida?

Thanks for responding, Margo :)

Hi Margo,

Yes, USF is considered a good university in FL. :)

Hi all,

I also was interested in the USF course and they do state on their website that they are board approved, but they are not listed on the FBON website. I spoke directly with a FBON endorsement supervisor and she stated the only courses they will accept are the ones listed on the FBON website.

One of the FBON courses listed is Millers Review Course. Does anyone know anything about this or course or anyone who has taken it?

Thanks,

Christina
