Any Rn here with gerontology certification

Hello,

I am currently an LPN in the process of starting the RN program.I would like to continue working with the geriatric population and specialize in it.What do you reccommend as far as specializing and certs?

I’m an RN and have been working in SNFs for most of my career. I’m certified in gerontology. I thought the test was easy and honestly it didn’t get me anything except a few more initials after my name. Get all the experience you can.

Same here.  I think you have to be an RN for at least 2 years before you can get board certified.  I recommend getting experience on the floor, getting familiar with LTC regulations and getting exposed to the MDS process for the first couple of years before thinking about getting certified.
