Hello,

I'm starting school at Reading Hosp. next fall and was looking to connect with others in the same position...

Also, if any of you can tell me if it's a good place to learn/work.

I'm more excited than I thought possible and would love to hear from any nurses or nursing students in the Reading, PA area!

Peace to all...

Lecia

Hey I'm not going to Reading. I'm going to HACC Lancaster. About half way thru my first semester of the actuall nursing class. But i live in Ephrata close to Reading. So if you have anything I can help you with let me know. Also if you wanta chat sometimes just PM me.

Hi,

I almost went to Reading School of Nursing, but decided to go to an accelerated program at Drexel instead. It seemed to be a good program and I was really interested in their evening weekend program. I think you will get a lot of good exposure.

I am considering working at Reading Hospital once I am done next September.

Good luck!

No problem! Just drop me a note when you're not so busy!!

Happy studying! :D

Ok since it's only my first semester I don't know a whole lot. I am in the day tract and I have no transfer credits so I am taking all the required courses for the first term. The ages of the students vary anywhere from right out of high school to older adults who's children are in college and decided to do the same. I'd say there are more younger kids but it's almost even so it's a difficult call. As far as the clinical uniforms go- yea they aren't the most stylish things, actually they are pretty awful haha. They are white with blue trim and the tops are kind of A-line shaped with a weird bib thing. Not exactly what I would have picked but at least they got rid of the funny little nursing hats students had to wear a few years ago. The classes are challenging and you do have to study (I never studied back in high school so it's a little different for me). The program is a little shaky (it seems that way to me anyway) because the class before mine was only like 60 and my class is 140 in just the day program. The teachers seem a little overwhelmed, but they are getting a little better as they adjust. I don't know how big your class is but I'm sure it's not tiny. Are you living in the dorms or are you living at home? Did you take the tour of the school yet? Good luck and if you have anymore questions just let me know.

Amber

again i'm sorry it took so long to get back to you.

Amber,

Thanks for getting back to me.

Yeah, I've seen the uniform since my sis-in-law went there a few years back... I was hoping they had changed since then!!

I'll be living at home since I'm married... I'm an old fart of 26!!

Ha, ha.

I don't plan to take a tour of the school since I'm fairly familiar with the hosp itself.

I'm concerned with your statement about the program being shaky because of the size of the classes. Do you feel you're getting a quality education and the individual attention you need??

I know you're busy and I really appreciate you sharing with me!

Thanks again!

Lecia
