Hi, I am wondering if anyone has taken the RN refrehser at FVTC? If yes, what is you opinion of the program? I have my BS in Nursing and have been out for 9 years to raise my kids and would like to get back into nursing. Thanks, jcm1015

Sorry, no information for you. Just in the same boat, not too far away. I'm curious what your feelings are about going back to nursing - excited, scared....? and what kind of nursing you did before. I had a baby in '98 and stayed home for the most part - did do some LTC on call from 2001-2003 in the last 10 years. I tried going back to the same facility last summer to do casual weekend charge nurse and I felt like a fish out of water. There were a couple of LPN's who had been there over 20 years and of course were excellent after all that time. They were however overworked, unhappy, and having trouble getting all the work done assigned to them, so they had zero tolerance for forgetfulness or floundering. My orientation was poor because I was expected to pick up where I had left off 5 years before and no one had time. I was very anxious and there was no support so I left after a couple of months. It has really affected my thoughts of going back. I hope you are in a better place than I. I will be refreshing in Green Bay if I decide to do so. Some tech's let you choose your clinical experience but I don't believe GB does. It's hard to get them to call you back for info. I get transfered, leave a message, and never hear anything. Good luck to you if you do the refresher.
