Hi, I am a CNA but would love to move up to become a PCT, I dream of working in an ED someday. While I spend the next year oe so in LTC waiting to get into nursing school, are there any legit online courses to get certifications. I would like to learn more about EKG, ACLS, PALS and Phlebotomy (I dout that could be done online though). I do not have an arm and a leg to pay with so any public schools that have these online, or private ones with Scholarships or grants would work.

Thanks

Is something like http://www.aclsonline.us/recert/pages/about.jsp legit or would employers laugh at it on my resume?

You can get your ACLS and PALS but you can't use them, and many places wouldn't let you take the course because you can't perform the skills you must be an RN, Paramedic, MD, PA...also you have to have at working knowledge of pharmacology and ekg interpretation. I teach ACLS and the AHA ACLS pre course (it's an ekg and pharmacology class) and have thought about offering it online, I would like to post a bog to find out how many people would be interested. If it works out would you like me to let you know? I teach near Charlotte NC if you are close enough for the classroom ACLS.
