Any one using glyburide in GDM instead of insulin?

Hi,

I was looking into glyburide use in GDM and have really only found a few articles. I was wondering if in practice you are seeing this or if it just in the literature. Thanks in advance for your input.

The Indian Reservation where I did my midwifery integration had a HUGE population of Type II DM, and about 20% of the pregnant ladies either had it or gestational DM. Lots of those ladies used glyburide and it worked well. That was my first experience with it. Now in my hometown there are a few who are on glyburide. I'm not sure how they are selected but I think its a reasonable choice to avoid noncompliance with insulin.

Almost all our GD pts that are not diet controlled, are on glyburide.

I am seeing this with one doctor's patients, in particular. The other groups are still using insulin, if not diet-controlled.
