Any Nclex-RN tips? Need you're advice!

Published

Hi everyone. I'm new in this site and I just want to know things about nclex-rn nowadays. I'm a graduate of nursing in the Philippines and I already passed the licensure there. I graduated year of 2012 and I'm planning to take the Nclex-RN next year (2014) here in California.

Here are some of my questions: :)

1. How many months did you guys wait after passing all the requirements for nclex to found that you're eligible to take the exam?

2. Did you pay already the appropriate fees before submitting the request of transcript to your nursing school?

3. What's the best nclex-rn review book/s that you may suggests?

Thanks in advance :)

Hello ! as far as I know.. Cali is requiring us foreign graduates to retake some subjects.. It's due to concurrency issue And I am one of them, my analyst sent me a letter to retake medsurg and recently finished my medsurg in one of the schools here in Cali. Most of the foreign grads I know had to take certain subjects to be able to take the boards here in Cali. Goodluck applying hope you won't get that concurrency letter

Hi. How did you know that you should take the medsurg? How long did you took that subject?

hi Erjb,

retaking Med Surg is frustrating and disappointing, most Calif Filipino applicants apply their in nclex in Florida or New Mexico.

if All your PRC OB 9 cases were completed in your 4th year then your Calif nclex application would certainly be rejected. Hence, the concurrency letter will be given to you.

Current Calif Nursing Practice law requires that your All PRC OB cases should be completed by the same semester as you took your Ob Theory lectures (3rd year)

Thanks :) do you know the processing time of the ca bon to know the eligibility of a examinee. And how long does it take to finish the medsurg and/or ob subject?

I would suggest you read the threads by a poster named steppybay. Very informative. It seems to me you do not have a clue to what the issues Filipino/foreign graduates are facing. They are daunting.

It's not the length of time it will take you to finish medsurge. The issue is there are no nursing programs offering those subjects here in California. And you have to take those classes here in Ca.

Erjb,

Did you completed your 9 DR cases in your 4th year ?

You should know that only a handful or so have been granted the ATT in CA since Nov. 2011 when the strict enforcement of the concurrency regulations went into effect, it's not brand new but rather goes back to 1957.

There are other posters here who have taken the NCLEX 1-2-3 times prior but failed and upon their re-application they were found to not be in compliance after the Nov. 2011 enforcement, but some lucky ones did get thru, not so any more.

The concurrency rules has affected all the PH grads from 2004 or 2005 to present, even those with several years of working RN experiences are not accepted as working experience can not be used in make up any of the deficiencies.

Congrats, kababayan! Hope you get that ATT letter soon, keep us posted!

Was this school located in Nor or So Cal? How many were in your class? Was it a mix of already CA students and PH grads or strictly PH grads?

I completed my all my cases before our graduation

Erjb, sadly, your CA application would certainly be rejected.

i suggest you apply to another state like New Mexico asap.

Dont waste your waiting time for CA approval because you will be just given a concurrency letter.
