Any LPNs who work in a clinic?

Published

Specializes in Endocrinology.

I've been an LPN for 1 1/2 years in a Doctor's office. I'm his only nurse. I left AllNurses for a while since I had nothing in common with any of the nurses here on the boards that either worked in a hospital, LTC, or still in school. Why isn't there a forum just for nurses who just do clinic work? I feel like I have a lonely job with no one to vent to. :o

Hi J Lynn. Welcome back!

I am not sure, but I can find out for you.

Suebird :p

Welcome to part of my world!! I work part time in a family practice clinic.

In hospital patients get discharged and you may never see them again. In family practice you know who the seat warmers are and look forward to them going into ER....

Suebird & Fiona: Thanks for the response. Being the only nurse in the clinic has it's ups and downs, but for the most part, I love it. One of the downfalls is the patients get to know you and call for you all the time. I'm the only one that can OK RX's, give shots, give lab results, give orders to hospital nurses.....things like that. So if I need a day off....well, it's hard.

Under the specialty forums, there is an "outpatient/office nursing" forum.

Thanks, but I've already found it. Suebird sent in the suggestion to change the name from Outpatient nursing to Outpatient/Office nursing. Before it just seemed like Outpatient rehab or Outpatient surgery.

Specializes in Case mgmt., rehab, (CRRN), LTC & psych.

You might also wish to try the Public Health Nursing forum. The vast majority of public health nurses work in public health clinics. Even though you do not specialize in public health nursing, you share the common bond of working in the clinic setting. https://allnurses.com/forums/f44/

I work for an Endocrinologist making 10.50/hr. Not bad for as easy as my job is. I also love it most of the time. We don't do any procedures which is great....I'm pretty spoiled.
