Hello Everyone,
Best place to vent about NCLEX because after reading so many posts, I certainly feel you all know what it means to fail and retake. I just found out I failed for the 3rd time. To be honest, first 2 times I did not study AT ALL(not over confident), I was moving back to my home country so I thought it was useless to get my license here. I came back to states because my gf was here and married her :).
When I planned on taking my exam for the 3rd time I really studied and studied hard but I guess not hard enough to pass. I took Hurst Review as I thought I needed a refresher in content area. Yes, it did help me with content but not with test taking strategies. There were lots of priority questions, SATA, and delegation questions. Content wise I thought I was very strong, did about 2000 or more questions. I also used Saunder 4e along with Hurst.
I plan on taking Kaplan Online, Saunders, and buying Prioritization, Delegation, and Assignment: Practice Exercises for the NCLEX Examination, 2e. I already downloaded the ALL Nurses Study guide from here which I think is awesome. Any advices on how to study Kaplan online. I know I have difficulty answering questions. Even in SON in clinicals I was a A student but when it came to exams I was at an avg of 80%.
Any help will be appreciated and please pray for me I really need this. Thank you everyone who replies.

Hi, Sorry to hear that you failed. I too failed my first time and I will be taking my RN nclex tomorrow morning. I used Kaplan this time around and I have found it to be extremely helpful. Everyone seems to be doing different things when it comes to kaplan and it really depends on what you want to get out of it. After spending $418 on the on-demand course i decided to do everything they offered. I answered 150-200 questions a day, read all the rationales (even if I got the question right), and when I came across something I didn't know or got the wrong answer I wrote it down with the rationale and looked it up right away. Some of questions on Kaplan are repetitive but the rationales have seemed to help me understand why I picked the answer I did. One thing I really liked about Kaplan was the review questions where the lady goes through 65 questions with you and teaches you how to answer them and tells you what tricks NCLEX may use to slip you up. She is a little hard to follow sometimes and doesn't make sense but I found I was understanding what she was talking about even when she didn't. I took my readiness from Kaplan a few days ago and scored a 66% and according to Kaplan that means I have a 96.80% of passing NCLEX tomorrow. The scores might be lower than what you would expect, and that discouraged me until I realized I was doing what everyone else was doing and scoring in the 50-60% range and I also through in a couple 40% scores. I will let you know how it goes tomorrow to see if I really do recommend kaplan. I will be praying for you and Good luck next time!!
Thank you Lucy. By Kaplan on demand you mean Kaplan online right?
BEST OF LUCK. I really hope you pass. I will pray for you.
The kaplan on demand is online yes, but it is a do it at your own pace kind of class. They have an online class which you have to actually log in and sit through live lectures. I called kaplan to see what program fit me best and I chose the on demand online because of my job, but they said all the programs are exactly the same and you get the exact same material to work with.

I'm sorry to see you didn't make it. My suggestion is if ur planning to retake in 45 days, I will suggest to you the Kaplan Qbanks only. After that. Once you've done with(make sure you got all Qs answer read rationale till you got98-100%) if u have time get a 3weeks ncsbn. And answer the question only till a day before ur exam. Watch. Marlene video over and over and over again. When I took the test yesterday. Marlene voice was ringing in my ear and that give me insight to what she's been telling in the topic. I had a good pop up after 75question. And one thing I also did the simulation from Nursing101 book. In which when I failed the last time in 2008 I got a score of80/120. But this time. Around my score was 95/120. So I felt very happy that I improved. I hope it helps. Both you and Lucy will get this as long as you don't give up. Turned 40 last year. I graduated from BSN in 1994. (I'm an old school)so the point is if I can do it with my old brain you both can certainly do more.Good luckJoe
