I graduated Galen San Antionio back in 2007. Ive been doing excelsior now for about 9 months. I have one gen ed class, and one nursing exam left to do before I can do the CPNE. I plain on taking my gen ed next week and my last nursing exam in May. There is only one CPNE compaired to multiple CPE's at galen. I have not taken it yet, so I can not compair. I do like excelsior for me because I work Mon-Fri 8-5, so this was my best option. Good luck on whatever you decide to do.

Congrats, the light is at the end of the tunnel for you. :D Did you have to take all the Excelsior Gen-Eds or you transferred in credits? Good luck at the CPNE and let me know how everything goes. If it is anything at all like Galen CPE just be prepared and remain focused on the task at hand. Good luck to you.

No, I did not have to take all of excelsior Gen-ed credits. I did have some coming in from a community college that I had taken before. I needed 13 credits total. I needed A&P becasue at excelsior you need 6 credits and mine was only 4, I also needed micro, and 3 credits in an elective, and one credit in humanities. All in all, it wasn't to bad. Ill keep you posted on the CPNE ( I hope to take it in July).

I am applying to Galen for the LPN program? I am concerned if my student loans will cover all of the expenses? I will not get any financial aid b/c i currently make too much...also, was anyone able to work part-time while in the program??

Hi Teresa, sorry for the late reply- its been forever since I logged in this site! I am confused by your financial aid situation, can you please clarify what you mean? Can you take out the stafford federal student loans? They covered mine completely, and a few quarters I actually got money back for books etc. For me, I had to quit my job during Quarter 1- it was too intense and overwhelming for me to work. School is 5 days a week and you really need those week evenings and weekends to study if you want to make good grades! The last quarter is the least intense, and it is much easier to work then. If you have other questions ask away! lol
