Any Ft Myers RNs around? Dunno where to start.. HELP

Published

Hi Floridians

I'm new in this forum, so please bear with me. I'm lost as to where and what are the best options to get into working as a nurse here in Ft Myers FL.

Background: I'm an international graduate RN and have 3 years experience, 2 of which was paediatric. My education/qualification is being evaluated at the moment by the Board of Nursing (Also studying for NCLEX while waiting) Whilst waiting, I would really like to work in a hospital setting so to help with my transition to the style of nursing here.

Would taking a CNA position be the best option? Are there any other programs/employment being offered for someone like me?

Your help is much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

where did you practice pediatric nursing? if you came from england, they probably will consider your experience. but if you came from the philippines, india or other asian countries, i doubt that they will consider the experience. it all depends on the employer though.

Lee memorial hospital offers new grad program. i think it starts on june. not sure if they have it this year. I dont know if they will take you without your license yet. you can call them to find out more.

Thanks for the reply. I wanted to message you privately but I dont think I can.

I graduated and gained my experience from Australia.

I did call the them (Lee Memorial) and unfortunately I have to have my license before I can enter the program.

I'm new to Ft Myers and I've tried looking for nurse related work around here but finding it a little difficult. I dunno how nursing works in the US, how to get into the health care (hospital) environment. I was thinking of CNA position but not many positions are available.

Hope you can provide some advice.

you should be able to send a private message to me. anyway, you might need to attend a CNA class and get a certification before you can work as one.. not sure how that works since you are actually an RN just waiting to get a license. as long as you have license and proof to work in the US, it shouldn't be that hard to get a job around here,(for the right price).

Do you have the legal right to work in USA?

Yes I can legally work here in the US.

Most hospitals will wait until you have a license in hand before permitting you to work.

There are also not many positions open.
