Any Canadian's want to help a American nursing student???

Published

I hope I am putting this in the right spot....

I grew up in a small farming town outside of Spokane Washington and my family would go up to Canada a lot when I was younger and always loved B.C.

Well I have joked for years that I wanted to move to Canada one day and was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction about working as a RN in Canada?

Does anyone know if it is hard for a American RN to work in Canada? Also should I work in the States for a few years before considering the move?

ANY HELP OR ADVICE IS WELCOMED!!

Thanks in advance:)

Hi Coloradogrl. Welcome to our little family.

There are lots and lost of posts in this forum about working in Canada, and many more in the International forum about immigration and licensing requirements. Take a look around and see if you learn what you need to know. If you still have questions, then you'll be able to focus on specifics. See you again soon!

One thing to remember is that many of the provinces are requiring RNs to have their BSN for licensure. Good luck.

Any questions specific to licensure and/or immigration need to be placed under the International Forum. There are already many threads there under this very topic.

And as mentioned above, not sure what type of program that you are currently in now; but the provinces in Canada are now going towards the BSN as a minimum requirement for licensure there.

Best of luck to you.

Sorry this one slipped by me, Suzanne. Blame the huge quantities of Robaxicet I'm eating today.

Not a problem at all, don't worry about it.

Will go ahead and move it now to the International Forum where it is more appropriate.
