Hello! I was wondering if anyone from Alabama has attended WGU? I am supposed to start in June. I was nervous about going because I have never heard of this school, but I did speak with someone at south alabama and they said they would accept credits from WGU so that made me feel better about it. Feedback would be greatly appreciated, Thanks!

I live in lower Alabama. I am looking to start June 1st hopefully.
Did you ever start the program? Unfortunately I had some personal issues and did not start but I am looking to start the first of the year hopefully. Still debating on WGU.
I started June 1st and I have progressed tremendously since then. I have obtained my BSN and I am 5 classes away from my MSN. The program is great for me. It takes into account your previous knowledge. There have been several tests that I past solely on clinical experience. I investigated the school for several months prior to enrolling. I am applying to Nurse Practitioner programs now at South Alabama and University of Alabama Birmingham. South Alabama does accept WGU students. UAB does as well. So we will see! The biggest thing is WGU does not do a GPA. You either pass or fail a course, however on the transcript it does say that all passes equal to a B or 3.0

Hi Canwil2082. I am from Northeast Alabama and I am interested in WGU, with goals similar to yours. I was glad to read of your success. I have a couple of questions- How many credits did you require to complete your BSN and how long did it take? Also, did you do the RN-MSN or the RN-BSN then MSN? Again congrats on the wonderful success.
That's awesome!!! I am also interested in the NP program at South Alabama. I work at USA children's & women's hospital and they will pay for 3 credit/hours a semester at south but I wanted to get my BSN first from some where else because they require soooo many pre-reqs. The next start date at WGU will be in March due to so many students but I'm hoping to get it sooner but I'm definitely set on going there! Thank you so much for your feedback. Please keep me posted I would love to know if you get into the NP program. Congrats on your success!!
I started off in the RN-MSN track. I think I completed about 40 credits before I was awarded my BSN. I originally thought I wanted to go into education full time. After my success in the MSN portion of the program, I realized I could do the Nurse Practitioner route. I think the BSN portion was great. It went by so fast for me. Everyone is different and proceeds at a different pace. It took me less than 6 months to complete my BSN. I work full time, have no kids, and spend about 40 hours a week on the program. I chose to stay and finish my MSN in Education because I was already so far into the MSN portion and the cost of the degree is very reasonable. I figured with all the money I saved I might as well go ahead and finish the program. It will give me a good trial run for NP school. I will have to retake most of my MSN courses, but I am ok with that. Repetition is key.
