Any advice for supporting urself financially while completing school?

Published

I really want to go to LPN school but I just don't know how I'm going to support myself & my son while I'm going to school. I don't have a job right now & my boyfriend is the only one working..he only brings home $350 every 2 weeks unless he's working a ton of overtime. I went to school to be a Dental Assistant but there just isn't a demand for DA's at least where I live anyway & it was so hard I did over borrow to help pay the bills but even then it wasn't enough and we were always late. Any advice? I really want to make this happen. Thanks =)

If you go to a junior college for your LVN, you can use your Pell Grant and Student Loans. Have you tried to apply for public assistance for you and your son? I know this is not the ideal situation, but at least it is some type of income to help pay the bills.

The only help me get is with food. I was thinking about the pell grant & student loans but I didn't know if it would be enough.

See if the college has a workforce program and school scholarships. If they do have a workforce program, you automatically qualify-because you receive food stamps. Utilizing public assistance to get ahead isn't frowned upon, using public assistance to stay dependant of others is another story
