Anxiety=IBS. Caused by birth control!

Published

After giving birth to my son 5 months ago I got the depo shot for birth control. Keep in mind I only had one injection, never went back for my second. Ever since I got the depo, I began getting anxiety. When I get anxiety, I get an IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) attack. I get an urge to go to the bathroom, and I HAVE to go or I WILL poop my pants. It's always very loose stool, like water. It's terrible. I get it when I'm just watching TV at home or if I even think about leaving the house.

I'm not on any medications for it because I feel I can mentally overcome it. I just don't want to be on medicine everyday. Especially because it was caused by a birth control! I was 100% fine until my 6wk checkup when I said YES to the shot.. biggest mistake of my life!

Please give me some advice. What can I do to stop this madness? I start prereqs this fall and I'm so scared I'll have these attacks during class. It has taken such a toll on me I'm getting depressed. When the heck will this shot get out of my system? I got it in February and I was due for my second one on May 21st. Also, I took Lutera (birth control pill) for about two weeks- I took my first one May 19th. Could the pill have made it worse? I got off the pill because it made me VERY emotional. Oh, and I've been bleeding for 4 months straight ever since I got the depo. It'll slow down and then get extremely heavy again.
