Depressed nurse who recently just  diagnosed with anxiety and long RP tachycardia. Few months ago I was transferred to non clinical area due to my diseases. I tried very hard to survive in non clinical area (known to be lesser stress environment) but I am feeling that I couldn’t fit in new environment. I am getting more depressed and anxious! Anyone can advise?

Make your recovery a life's priority by working a program, Faithful love.

Eat, drink, and sleep that program which involves seeking professional help, medications if indicated, spiritual readings, journaling your thoughts & feelings, Emotions Anonymous meetings, and continue to gather data as you've already done.

Having suffered from depression and anxiety in the past, I can assure you that working a program every day can significantly improve your life.

Good luck, and the very, very best to you, Faithful love!

Another thing is I am afraid that I couldn’t pass my probation in new jobs. I am so devastated, feeling suffocated. I am on Valdoxan 50mg ON.

I failed my probation in my new job which I have tried very hard. Day by day I am getting more depressed and anxious. It’s been 6 months I have started on treatment.

Thank you for the additional information, Faithful love.

Valdoxan is a new one on me, and the info I read says it's not approved for use in the USA. It's an atypical antidepressant that has anxiolytic qualities.

"ON" is once nightly?

Share with us, if you will, what sort of treatment and/or therapy you have received outside of medication.

We here at allnurses can be a virtual support, yet not the whole enchilada. I would suggest to you, faithful love, that working your program start now, at this instant.

Writing down, with pen and paper your thoughts and feelings paying no heed to spelling, grammar, penmanship, or punctuation for at least 15 uninterrupted minutes. The act of putting down on paper, writing, is a great catharsis, and remember to deep breathe.

When at the height of my anxiety, I would exercise to the point that my physical pain matched my emotional pain. Of course we need to observe any and all safety measures.

Spiritual literature is a handy helper, and knowing that others have dealt with anxiety and depression can cause us to feel like we're not in this all alone.

By all means, seek professional help. A good therapist can support and guide us through these dark times, giving us a goal on which to work.

I must go and TCB now, Faithful love, but, like I said, we here at allnurses can be a part of a program of recovery by giving virtual support.

Again: The very best to you.

Been working in mental health for the past 6 years-I agree with everything Davey Do has posted. Good advice.

Be not overwhelmed! You are not the only nurse that has anxiety and depression. We all carry different kinds of baggage and the past year has been traumatizing.

The best advice I can give you is "You have to take care of you before you can take care of anyone else." Don't let the feeling of depression talk you out of getting counseling, medication, or anything else you need. Pay attention to how much sleep you are getting-sleep deprivation is a trigger for depression and anxiety. If the medication you are on hasn't helped after a couple of months, your doctor needs to try something else. It's your life and it matters.

Stay in touch with us on allnurses-we're rooting for you.
