I've started a program in our NICU (22-bed, Level III) where the Lead (delivery) nurse rounds on the antepartums on bedrest for PTL/PPROM. Basically, the NICU RN makes sure the parents understood the Neo and what they will be facing, answers questions about the NICU and makes sure a tour happens if they are interested. We do this 1-2 x/week that they are with us. We don't answer any specific questions regarding diagnosis, LOS or outcome - that we leave to the docs and NNPs. Our management loves this idea because it could potentially raise our satisfaction scores (that is a whole other topic!)
Are any of your hospitals doing something like this? I've been searching for programs that are similar.

Our attendings and fellows talk to the moms on postpartum and they bring them for tours if they are able to come over, but we don't round on the moms ourselves. We see a lot of women prior to delivery if they have a baby that has something going on and will end up with us Honestly, our unit would throw that on the charge nurse if we brought that up, and we just don't have the time. We don't really go for deliveries since I work at a teaching hospital. If you can make it work, go for it :)
That should be antepartum, autocorrect likes to speak for me lol
