Hello,
I am planning on attending Ana G Mendez University Jan of next year. The Campus I am planning on attending is the one in Miramar. Can anyone please tell me what their opinions and experience is or was if they went to the same university? I am doing my research before making a decision. I will appreciate any information.
Thanks :)

First, have you confirmed their national accreditation? As in, from ACEN or CCNE? Check with the bodies themselves, not with the schools, who often play "loosie goosie" with letting students know if something changes. If they are not nationally accredited, you will ONLY be able to practice in Puerto Rico. You will NOT be able to take NCLEX.
Second, will you be attending their undergrad or grad program? From everything I have been told, they are pretty much the only game in town for Family Nurse Practitioner in Puerto Rico (but the APRN role is limited to nurse anesthetist in Puerto Rico outside of the Veterans Hospital system so there are not many programs). I believe that is in the Cupey campus. For undergrad, I have had several students transfer out from Ana G. Méndez to mine because of a lack of clinical sites. For the money, you could attend Inter American. I have seen Inter American improve sharply in the past three years in terms of the quality of professors and the clinical site availability. The UPR Ciencias Médicas is even cheaper, but you need to be fluent in Spanish for that. Bear in mind that with the economy the way it is on this Island, nursing is seen as one of the few reliable jobs so there are a TON - and I mean a TON - of little for profit ADN programs popping up, so the competition for clinical sites is fierce. Only established games like Inter American or the UPR (which has its own teaching hospital) have the pull to guarantee you real sites. I had classmates transfer over from Sagrado Corazón, another well established school but smaller, because in two years they never saw a patient.
My wife's friend went to Ana G. Méndez for her Masters in Education and says it is an okay place. Just a bit pricey for Puerto Rico if you have other options.
Hi, thanks for replying... I am in Miami Fl. I will be attending the one here in Miramar. I called board of nursing they said they are accredited CCNE. I will transfer credits from another school.
Ah, Miramar Florida. That makes more sense :)
Best of luck on your studies!
