Working with injury

So I'm pretty sure I have a stress fracture in my foot from running. My Dr wants to wait another week before he orders testing and referrals in the hopes that it's just an overuse injury that'll start to feel better with staying off it (it's been 8 days since the pain started).

My question is has anyone ever been able to work wearing an ortho shoe or using crutches? I work in a very small family practice and most of my day is spent on the phone answering patient messages. I can't afford to go on FMLA and my manager said they would work with me as much as they could if I do have to go down this route. I'm just wondering if anyone else has been there and how bad was it? I'm praying it doesn't come to this but I'm also trying to be realistic. Thanks in advance.

I sprained my knee and ankle and was on crutches for a few days so I just used a few sick days/PTO. It's tough enough manuevering on crutches, plus trying to do pt care would be too much. If they can guarantee phones only where you'll be sitting down then it'd be easier, but anything more would be awkward. Never been in a boot so I'm not sure how that would work out.

I worked on a busy med-surg floor with a boot shoe and badly broken 2 toes. It can be done.

Dang. I bet that was a pain. You are a trooper.

My work won't allow any type of open footwear including the boots on the floors but since I'm just in a clinic there's a little wiggle room.

One of the techs in our office broke a bone in her foot snowboarding and clumped around in a boot for several weeks. She did just fine

I worked with a torn ankle ligament. I used a brace for a couple of months then taped it for another 6 months. The Ortho gave me a boot and crutches. I almost face planted a few times on crutches and the boot wasn't comfy for 12 hr shifts. I also worked with a broken finger. 😁
