Well...am I?? :uhoh21: We were told that we might want to start reading ahead. I mean I tried, I really did, but I just couldn't focus. Now class starts in less than two weeks. Yikes!! I think I'm in trouble now..

That would do me no good. We skip around so much in the book it would be a complete waste of time to read ahead. We don't get the syllabus until the first day of classes, which is clinical orientation. We can start reading ahead then for the lecture later in the week. I wouldn't worry about it unless you know for sure what the format will be for the class. My program builds upon concepts so that we're constantly reviewing to supposedly make us better prepared for the NCLEX. It's such a bear to follow the reading assignment as it's written in the syllabus that I have to use post it flags with the page numbers marked in order to keep track of what I need to read. Don't worry about it and enjoy the rest of your summer. Good luck!

I totally feel the same way you do. Everyone I know is starting to read ahead, except me! It's not due to me being lazy or a slacker... TRUST me, if I was lazy or a slacker I would have NEVER gotten in to our super-competitive program in the first place! But I feel like I worked extremely hard to get where I am, and I should relax and enjoy what little left I have of R&R, because Lord knows when I'll ever have it again.... Enjoy your time and live in the moment!!

Don't worry about it. I have orientation tomorrow and first day of class is on Tuesday. I didn't read at all, mostly because I was too busy picking up extra shifts at work to save up for my time off during the semester. As long as you don't get behind during the semester, you'll be fine.

Nope, I thought about it, too. Can't say I did much about it...but I thought!

I started the reading a week before class started. If I read it too much in advance, I'd forget what I read. Don't worry about it, you'll catch up.

I had to read....mostly math. I suck at math so I went over basic math stuff like fractions and stuff....I'm still working on conversions....like I said, I suck, lol. Plus I read 4 chapters out of the fundamentals books, lol. I didn't do it to get ahead or thinking it'll help...I just was excited to start reading my nursing books, lol. I have orientation tomorrow then classes start on Monday...woohoo!!

We had to read. We were given 20 chapters out of 4 books to have read before class started. I am just finishing them.

NO WAY! I was functionally illiterate as far as nursing material went this summer. I did, however, catch up on a huge stack of People magazines and trashy novels from my used bookstore. Time enough when school starts to get crazy again.

We start Monday and we never got a syllabus or anything so I skimmed the first Fundamentals chapter but I mostly focused on enjoying my summer. I read about 13 books for fun since I won't be able to do that anymore, and watched lots of tv on dvd. I feel like it was a nice, restful summer and I'm glad I spent it the way I did :)
Yay for TV on DVD!! All 6 seasons of NCIS this summer! Woo-hoo! I definitely won't be having any time for that until maybe winter break.
