I first started "lurking" the threads of allnurses.com back in the spring of 2009 when I was a junior in college/my first year of nursing school. I didn't become an official member of this site until June of 2010.
I remember spending my leisurely time browsing threads about nursing exams, stress and anxiety, passing the NCLEX, getting that first job out of school, etc. I remember feeling comfort reading various threads and knowing that I was not the only one who felt scared, clueless, anxious, and stressed about my future nursing career.
Over the past several years, I have always sought advice from allnurses.com no matter what my personal issue was in regards to nursing. I give so much credit to this site and its members for assisting me through my nursing career thus far.
I started out as a timid nursing student and CNA. I got my first two jobs out of school in 2010 at both a med-surg unit and a long-term care facility. After a year, I then became an ICU nurse at a hospital that I have loved working at for the past four years and will continue to work at until I get my MSN and NP license in a couple years.
Earlier this year, I sought advice on allnurses.com for the GRE, getting into graduate school, etc. I found a lot of helpful advice from allnurses.com members as usual. After spending much of 2014 studying hard for the GRE, perfecting my essays and narratives, and completing my application requirements, I found out before Christmas that I was accepted into my dream school (Vanderbilt University) for the Acute Care Nurse Practitioner specialty starting in Fall 2015. I am beyond grateful and excited about this next chapter in my life.
As 2014 draws to a close, I am reflecting on everything and everyone that I am thankful for. THANK YOU allnurses.com and everyone on this site for being a huge part of my nursing journey. I look forward to all the years to come and the solace you provide me.
