Allegany College of Maryland (ACM)

Updated:   Published

Anyone successful complete lpn to RN through allegany college or in the nursing program how do you view your experience.

I inquired with the school about when we might hear about acceptance and Robin Srayer sent an email back letting me know they are waiting on Spring grades to be submitted and emails will go out in June. 😀

Thanks for being so brave and contacting the school. June decisions ugh Why so late? April 15th deadline must have the august transition class date.

@Neon8rn2BI wish I could help on the studying...I struggled the entire time. 😞 I was given a lot of pointers by the professor but it's almost like she "ran out" of suggestions.

Make sure you are understanding the pathophysiology of the disease/disorder being studied. The professors will ask you "why" a million and one times...if you don't understand the basics, then you likely will not connect the dots of the disease. Problem is, they don't teach the pathophysiology. I used a lot of YouTube-mainly Nurse Sarah and Simple Nursing.

@MoM23LVN thank you!

Does anyone knows what this bundle includes? This is a required books for the Transition class

@nursenomeds1 is the fundamentals book needed because allegany bookstore says required but lippincott has it as optional.

I didn't buy it and we NEVER used it even though they claimed we needed it it was a waste of money to buy so I rented it  just incase.

So please take this with a grain of salt...as professors change and syllabus's change...I never opened the Fundamentals book. I did use the care plan book, but got a lot online as well, but any care plan book would suffice. The other book that may be in that bundle is the prioritization and delegation...I did not use until 4th semester and only used it to answer NCLEX style questions.

I can't recall if I mentioned this or not to others, BUT GET INTO a habit of doing 75 NCLEX style questions daily!! In 4th semester they will hound you about getting those in! If you fit it into your routine NOW then it will hopefully pay off later in the program!

How do they know if you are doing the questions or not do we get a grade for it ?

@Sparkle7They don't...however...it will help you answer the questions on tests. Most of the tests are styled to mimic the NCLEX, but not taken from the NCLEX if that makes sense.
