Hi! I'm a high school senior.I like to become a register nurse someday. Is Allan Hancock College Nursing program good? And how hard to get in?

This program is not a RN entry program you must be an LPN first to apply.

How long does it takes to be a LPN?and do I have to do the Nursing pre-reqs?

Yes all programs have pre-reqs.....I suggest you look at their site....they have it clearly laid out for you. Part of being a nurse is learning how to research things to find the answer that you seek.

The licensed vocational nursing program is a twelve-month program offered every year, January through December (including summer session). Current California Certified Nursing Assistants who have completed program prerequisites are eligible to apply. The curriculum is designed to prepare the CNA to become an LVN. Classroom study covers basic nursing concepts and subjects related to patient care, including anatomy, physiology, medical-surgical nursing, pediatrics, obstetrics nursing, pharmacology, nutrition, and first aid. Clinical practice takes place in our labs, local hospitals and medical care facilities.

Students must complete the state-mandated hours in classroom and hospital experience in order to be eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Vocational Nurses. The Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians (BVNPT) have fully accredited this program. Students accepted into the program must comply with background checks and drug screening required by clinical agencies.

Hello fellow nurses & students! I tried to get info on the Alan Hancock RN program. The website only lists pre-requisites and a merit-based PDF. However, the PDF didn't explain anything except for GPA and NCLEX-PN score needed (I thought we weren't scored on NCLEX). It did not mention a TEAS score (which I have taken). And pretty much the whole website was vague. There was no "brochure" and nothing explained the admission process (like 90% of all other RN schools do). I have emailed and will try to speak with someone from there soon, however I would like something in writing to refer to. You have no idea how much run-around I've gotten from some schools!

If anyone has info on the admission process, please share!
