Who can confirm math 100 required for fall?

U.S.A. Alabama

Jace24 mentioned the change in math for fall 09 (116 not accepted.) Can anyone confirm or is it just a rumor? I heard that points were being eliminated and the PAX entrance exam was going to be reinstated.

Who knows??

I have no idea..i just graduated from CACC and i took math 100 because i would need it anyway to go on for my BSN later. I would suggest if you are good (or even ok) at math, that u go for the higher one, just to be safe..and you may need it later on. What is the PAX??

I hate math! I made an "A" in 116 and really dread algebra. Hope I can get in without 100! The PAX is an entrance exam for nursing students, similar to SAT/ACT.

What 2 yr. schools (in Alabama) have dorms? I won't be able to afford an apt. I live in Bham and plan to apply anywhere but Jeff State/Gadsden State.

I really dont know of any 2 year programs that offer dorms. I know the two you mentioned do not, and CACC does not. I think only BSN programs at major universities (like UAB) provide those, for a fee, which is usually high. Where in alabama are you wanting to live?

Actually I can live most anywhere. I am starting over (real estate broker.) I'm single (male 32) so I have lots of flexibility. Unfortunatly, I still have Anatomy II (taking in January) and Microbiology (summer) before I can be accepted. I understand Wallace will accept applicants in June for Fall 09, so I have a good shot getting in if they will take math 116. My compass score is high (94, going to try for 99) so I think I'm ok there.

Have you finished yet? Any words of wisdom re: pharmacology math?

Wallace State in Hanceville has a Lady's Dormitory as well as Men's. But not as big as universities dorms understandably.

oh yah, Bevill State has dormitories too.

Yes, i have finished, as of December 18. As far as the pharm goes, know your conversions!!! I would suggest getting a Math for Meds book and starting at the beginning. They go over the math part of pharm so quickly, that you pretty much have to self learn..and it is essentially one of those "either you know it or you dont" things. If you develop your own method for any of the ways to solve the math problems, that is fine too, as long as you still get the correct answer. I still dont know the way the book taught it..i did my own thing (which is almost impossible to explain without showing) but it worked.

Also, go ahead and start memorizing normal lab values. You will use it ALOT and if you dont already know it, it is just one more thing that you have to learn. It seems like a trivial thing, but its important, and used alot!!!

Mommy of 3 in Alabama:

Congratulations! I know you are happy you completed your program!

If you know any post-grad student(s) that want to tutor, let me know. I live in Birmingham.
