Jeff State Spring 2014 Hopefuls

U.S.A. Alabama

Hi everyone!! I currently attend Jeff State Shelby Campus. I am applying for the Spring this fall. I am so excited! I have taken the teas once but did not get the store I wanted so I am currently preparing to take it at least twice before the summer is out! So pumped...anyone else?

I'm the same way lol...I can't wait to get started. But I don't mind waiting a couple of weeks now that I have been waiting over a year now.

I'm right there with you. I've been waiting about that long too... I'm sure once it starts we will be wishing for a little down time every now and then... Haha

I was in a nursing program before at another school (several years ago). I was trying to do too much, and I only failed by 0.2 points (not even a whole point). At that time, if you failed, you had to sit out for 2 years. I was devastated! I finally decided to give it another go, so here I am. I am excited to get back in school, but I do remember how time consuming it was, and unfortunately I still have to help pay bills:) I have worked as a cna in a hospital for the last 5 years, and so I've had my share of the healthcare field already. I love doing patient care, but I am definitely ready to get this thing started so I can be an RN and make more money- still doing what I love:)

Well at least you haven't given up :) and I remember that "rule" about waiting two years...and they took it away a few years ago thank goodness... But you should do well since you have the background :) I use to question myself and wonder if what I was doing was the right thing by going back, but then I decided I would rather take the time now and have a career I love then to change up everything and get a degree doing something I wouldn't like....I am glad I am not the only one that is going back :)

Yea I know what you mean about wanting a break after it starts lol

How many of y'all are as antsy as I am, and the deadline is STILL a week from today?? Haha

ME!!! lol I am praying we find out in two weeks after the deadline instead of waiting until Nov. 1st or so :(

ME!!! lol I am praying we find out in two weeks after the deadline instead of waiting until Nov. 1st or so :(

Yeah me too. I was told at first that we would know within 2 weeks of the deadline but then last week she told me that we would definitely know by the end of October. I'm really hoping it's the first one...lol

okay, so we're getting into the last few days before the deadline!!! I am so excited!...Did anyone calculate their own GPA (last 24) for the application? Or did you just let an adviser do it? I let one adviser calculate mine and she said I would be fine, I would have a 3.0 for the last 24...But then I started thinking (bc one person on another thread said the adviser did her's wrong and she did not get in bc of her GPA) And I came up with an almost boarder line GPA...So that's way off of what she told me! (I think like 2.6) I thought you added up the total qualitative hours the divided that by the total credit hours ( ex: if you where taking a 3 hour credit course and it's qualitative points was 12 then you'd have a 4.0 from that one class.) Does anyone know if I am doing this right? Bc I don't see how she even got 3.0....And also, does anyone know how the last 24 credits work? Like the classes I am looking at would add up to 25 credits..so would they just take that instead of 24? I don't know, maybe I am over thinking...But thanks anyway for y'alls help :)

I am about to find my sheet where she worked mine out for me and I will get back to you, but it sounds like your doing it right... Are you saying she said 3.0 or 2.6?

Thank you! She is saying I would have a 3.0 and I calculated a 2.6 if I include 25 credit hours ( because my classes aren't an even 24)

Ok.. I found my sheet and yes you were doing it right. She only did my last 23 because she would've had to split a class but she just added up all my quality points and divided it by the number of credit hours for those classes. From the term that she had to pick which points from she chose the one with the most quality points available so maybe that's the case with you too. Hope this made sense... Lol

okay, thanks! and yes that does make sense... Now you say she did not split credit hours? right? So I am looking at my credit hours and the total before nursing (the ones I failed..and yes I'd have to use these in my last 24 :( ) would be a total of 17 then the two nursing classes ( one would be 8 and the other 2 ...weird, I know) do you think she would just add 8 and make it 25 or do you think she'll just add 2 to make it 19? but that can't be right bc you HAVE to have at least 24 right? I just want to make sure bc there is good difference in my GPA between the two and I am now scared bc with the 25 credits I am so close to the cut off!
