Agency nursing in Houston TX?

Published

Can anyone enlighten me on the need for agency nurses in the Houston area? Is there alot of shifts and what agencies are best to work for?

I sure hope some people respond. I'm also curious which agencies contract in this area!

I know a company actively seeking 20 MedSurg & 5 Spinal Cord RNs for a contract at the Houston VA Hospital. Ive known a few people work for them in the past so its legit. If you are interested, ill give you the company name over PM.

Question do agency nursing take new grads? and @79tango may i also have the company names?

Hey, do you think you can give me the company name? I'm really interested in SC. Is it a rehab hospital also? Thanks so much.

Memorial Hermann has their own agency. They're called Premier and you apply through their website and can work at any of the Memorial Hermann locations. Good luck ;)

@ ashley2011 would you happen to know if that internal agency accepts new grads????

I'm sorry but I don't know because I don't work for the agency, I'm work as regular full-time staff, but I'm sure you can just call Memorial Hermann's human resources and they'll be able to tell you. In general, I think most agencies require 1 yr exp on the floor you're requesting only because the orientation is very minimal so they expect you to know the basics.

@ soontobetexann no they dont, the require 2 years experience. They called me for an interview and could not hire me because i had 18 months hospital experience. :( despite the fact that i passed all they test the provided!. There is one called MSN on westheimer and wilcrest they send their nurses to HCA facilities, they strictly require 1 year experience. try applying at Atrium Hospital on W. Airport and Kirkwood. or at Kindred hospitals they take new grads and train for 3 months.

oh wow thanks so much @rnmage

Hi,

I'm new to this site and can't PM yet. Do you mind sending me the agency name.

Thanks!
