agency nursing compared to hospital

Can anyone advise re agency nursing.? I don't seem to be able to have any luck with hospitals as I already work part time and would like additional work in a hospital to gain more experience. (I wasn't able to get a post grad). I am just not sure who to go with and what they expectations are of a new RN with no post grad. I live in regional Qld. I am willing to work, have a good disposition and the more I learn the happier I am. Are there any agencies which are particularly good?. I believe some nurses in the hospital sigh and say " They're only an agency nurse" (Have we always been second rate or something?) Is there any way I can make a difference and have you any tips for me please.

I haven't done agency nursing but some great nurses i know have been agency.

Due to money, lack of staff it is harder to get grad programs in country Australia but is too late. In WA some hospitals offer grad programs if you have less than twelve months expereince.

Are the options to commute . Nursing can be hard enough without being new and treated otherwise.

Maybe some agencies offer a travelling grad program?

I currently work for an agency that I have been with for the past 5 years. Although some staff in hospitals have a negative opinion about agency staff, this is not always the case. The harder you work the better your reputation is with facilities and staff. The agency that I am with has offices in Toowoomba, Noosa Heads, Nambour, Bundaberg and Rockhampton. If you are anywhere near one of these offices I would recommend the agency Regional Nursing Solutions. They have a web site so that you can see what they are about. Good Luck
