Hello all!
I love this group and learn a lot here! I am new to the agency thing. I have never worked for one, but I have plenty of experience in hospice, (in home patients mostly), and some sub-acute care. Almost all the agencies here in SO East Florida seem to only do home heath and they are mainly short visits. I was wondering, do all the agencies that have the sort like hour or less visits expect you to work 7 days a week every week for that patient? I am wanting to do these types of visits for the flexibility as I am going back to school for my RN. My problem is that I am not able to do it because of my class schedule. For example, I will have classes every Tuesday, and Wednesday 7:30-4:30 for clinical and every Monday and Friday 1-4 for lecture class. I had to turn down an agency today because I could not even schedule one patient twice a day 7 days a week like they demanded because there was no way to get the visit done by the time class started at 7:30 for the first visit.
I am struggling to figure out how to to any type of agency work with this crazy school schedule! How do you guys that work and go to school do it? I do not want to work overnight shifts like I used to and then have to go to class on no sleep. That is crazy! I may have to work weekends, but really do not want to! I only need part time work, but even that is very hard for me to figure out as 7-3 and 3-11 shifts are out Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Mondays and Fridays because of classes!

Baby, you are going to have to make some tough sacrifices. It sounds like to me that you will not be able to squeeze any hours in except weekends and just a few hours on those days. ..

OP, work the weekends. It sounds like the only good option.

I don't mean to sound snarky...but I don't know what you mean by make sacrifices?
What hours should a person expect to avail themselves to work in the field of home health....assuming their school hours are flexible?
