Advice Please LPN or RN.

Published

Hello everyone,

Would you recommend getting LPN certified before RN. I have a choice to apply to the LPN program in the fall, or wait and apply to the Spring 2011 RN program (I have to wait until Spring 2011 because I am taking Micro in the summer). My college has a LPN to RN program as well. 1 year to complete LPN and with 6 months experience, I can apply to the LPN transit to RN. Any input is welcome. Thanks.

Also, tell me what you love best about being an LPN?

What I loved best about being a LPN was being able to work for a decent wage when I was getting my RN. Also that when I went for my RN bridge program I wasn't worried about taking NCLEX like the first time RN students were. I had been there, done that. :D. I also felt that I was less anxious because I was already a nurse and didn't have the chance of failing out in the second year, like some did, with only their CNA to show for almost 3 years of hard work. My advice would be apply to both because you might not get in them both and then make your decision from there. Good luck.
