Hello everyone I could use a little guidance here! 🙂 Nursing is my second career so I am in my 40's. I currently work in a psychiatric hospital. I love and hate it. It is long term so I am able to develop rapport and trust with patients but on the other end we are usually short staffed, and we still do a lot of things on paper which takes a long time. There is also the fear when psych patients get violent it can get scary. I also feel that age old dilemma of not utilizing the skills you learn in nursing school. The nurses I work with are great but many of them have worked in so many different nursing fields already they are experienced with many different medical issues. I'm currently out on disability with a detached retina so I've had more time on my hands. What are your suggestions?
