I can't apply to colorado nursing board until I finish the courses in order boost up my hours that I am lacking in right?? At this stage I am not eligible to sit the NCLEX nor apply to NB so I'm stuck until I get these course finished.
I know I'm not going get things done by October. I don't think this is going to come through for another year at least!
I'm wondering if i could get away with not getting a visa screen... but it's probably better to be safe than sorry

Thanks for your replies, really appreciate it!

I will be an Australian citizenship come this June. (I moved here from England in 2006). If your thinking of the temp visa for Au citizens I've heard of it but because your not supposed to apply for a perm visa while on it i can see there being difficulties when i try and apply for a green card !!

That information is not correct. All that is required of E3 holders is that they undertake to leave the US when their legal status ends. There is no requirement to maintain residence etc outside the US, because the E3 is "indefinitely renewable".

The E3 guidelines from USCIS specifically state that a pending GC application is NOT a reason to deny an E3 renewal.

Thanks for this info i have now looked up your other posts you have written regarding the E3, its given me food for thought!! I also looked up the offical web site for E3, wondered if you could answer my question please...

I have a diploma in nursing, a degree is required for E3, but at the bottom of the FAQ section it says and i quote "that three years of professional experience may generally be used to subsitute for each year of university-level education" Do you think that means that as i have a diploma if i also had three years nursing experience they would see that as the equivalent to me having a degree and let me apply for the E3? I only have two years nuring experience but to make it three is only a year away if i wanted to go in one year, we have lots of money to save before moving agian (done it before from England to OZ and know how expensive it is) and we have 5 kids to grow up a bit before we're ready (think ive lost my eldest two to OZ, price you pay for being a nomad) but it sounds like the E3 would mean we could go when we are ready not when a green card finally comes through.

Appreciate your help and greatful for your shared knowledge this sort of passed on info can change peoples lives and provide great oppitunities thanks again.

Afraid not - if you don't have a degree, you need to have 3 years of professional experience for every year of the degree that you don't have, which = 12 years professional experience. I do know of one person who had a diploma plus less than 12 years experience who got the E3. The bottom line is that you'd need to find someone who wanted to hire you, and wrote an offer letter/applied for LCA. Then you'd have to go to an educational equivalency company and have them evaluate both your education and experience to see if they match up to a BSN in the USA. The company I used is http://www.trustfortecorp.com/

I did not go through an agency, I just applied myself. I have been working in the US since early last year.

I am so glad to find this website today, hopefully somebody can help me out !!!
I am an Australia citizen and working in oz as a RN,I am going to take NCLEX exam in CA in next two months, but the problem is that i don't have SSN to get the licence after that,on the other hand i am also going to work in NY, cuz my husband works there, so question 1:should i be able to find a employer in NY to apply for the E3 visa with the NCLEX pass letter(without SSN) first so that i can apply for E3 first to get the ssn and then get the hard licence in CA? question 2:should i be able to transfer my nclex pass score to NY ?how long does it take?
would be appreciate if anybody can answer my questions !thanks

I do believe you can get a temporary licence in CA while you wait for your SSN. Best to check with the BON in CA. You should be able to get E3 without a SSN in CA. Once you have your registration in one State you can apply for endorsment in other States. Hope this helps.

Even to endorse to NY you need to complete CVS with CGFNS NY BON will not issue a license without it. Once you pass NCLEX you can start the process with NY and arrange for Ca to forward your results to NY

i called the ca bon today, they said that i would't be able to get my licence without ssn,(even use my us tax file number), so frustrating !!!with the endorsment in ny, do i need to have my nursing school forward all my transcript to ny bon again?
appreciate the reply from zonnenschijn and silverdragon102
    have a nice weekend everyone!

CVS is required by NY BON and that is done with CGFNS. You complete the paperwork as set out on CGFNS website and they do all the running around and sending for the information. Takes approx 6-8 months on average but if documentation is returned quickly then can be done in less. You send your application to NY BON once CVS is complete plus you have to do the 2 courses that is a requirement of NY BON

Once all sorted you will also need to get a VSC
