Advice for a new Telemetry-neuro RN, please??

Published

Hi! I will be starting my training (new grad) for telemetry-neuro in the next couple of weeks. I would like to study ahead of time to better prepare for the training. What areas/topic would you recommend that I read and get familiar with? Any advice you can give is greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Hey there,

Congrats on the new job! I used to work on a very similar floor and LOVED it! I am excited for you. If you are looking to study prior to your start date I would suggest reviewing your cardiac rhythms and interventions for arrhythmias, NIH stroke scale, seizure precautions and drugs, CHF, Angina VS MI, cardiac drugs (beta blockers, ace-inhibitors, calcium channel blockers, anti-arrhythmic), electrolyte imbalances that may induce neurologic and cardiac issues and general cardiac and neuro assessment skills. Good luck and hope this helps!
