Advice on misdemeanor and entering nursing school

Published

I was accepted into a nursing program in central fl, they ran a background check on me and found a misdemeanor theft record from 5 years ago, which I thought had been expunged. I was never convicted, the charges were dropped and I completed a pre trail intervention class. I thought that was behind me. (I was with someone who stole an item, I did not steal anything but I was charged as an accessory). My finger prints came back clear showing nothing on my record but my background did show the misdemeanor. I spoke with the problem compliance director and she stated that it was not up to her if I could be in the program but it would be up to my clinical facilities if they let me do my clinicals with this on my record. Does anyone know if they will still let since it is only a misdemeanor? Do I still have a chance to complete the program? I am in the process of getting it expunged so I won't have to deal with this when I apply for my license but I am worried I will not be allowed to do my clinicals?

We have no way of knowing. Only the individual facility can tell you their policy.

Hopefully, the expungement will happen quickly.
