Hello fellow nurses!

I recently posted a similar post under travel nursing, but was redirected to this forum in hopes of more responses! I've been a nurse for about 1.5 years and I will be transitioning from the ICU to the Emergency Room soon.

Ever since I was in high school I have had a passion for travel and immersing myself in other cultures. I've noticed that finding opportunities for nursing abroad is very difficult. Many organizations either don't seem organized, or their websites are outdated. I am interested in either doing some volunteer/mission work abroad, or joining an organization that provides relief on a more regular basis abroad. I know Doctor's Without Borders requires several years of experience, and I'm sure it is competitive.

I submitted an application for the Peace Corps, and I am currently being considered for an assignment. I think they recently had an influx in applications, so it has become quite an extensive and competitive process.

Ultimately, I want to gear my career to a more international level, especially since I am young and unmarried, without a family, etc. Does anyone have any advice in terms of these subjects? Has anyone done the Peace Corps as a Registered Nurse? Or if anyone knows of tried and true organizations that allow for nurses to volunteer abroad that would be most excellent! Would love to hear from anyone!
