Hi everyone,
I am 17 and going to be a high school senior next year. I live in TX, by the way
I really confused about ADN. I go to community college to get ADN, but do I need take general eds such as math, government, economics and english before take prerequisites classes for ADN? If not, when I apply for BSN at university, do these general ed classes is compulsory?
I really do not where to start. Should I be CNA then finish pre nursing program then go straight to accomplish BSN? Or should I get ADN then get into ADN-BSN program?
One more question: if I finish pre nursing at community college, does is cut my BSN which orginally is 4 yrs into 2 yrs because I have heard that 4yrs BSN include about 2 year is pre nursing class.
Moreover, Which university in dallas area is best and affordable in bsn program?
While I read some discussion, some people mentioned TEAs. I do not know what it iS and why we have to take the test? This test is compulsory to go to nursing school?
Each of comments will help me choose my right pathway!
Many thanks for all your advice. If there is anymistakes, I am very sorry.

These are questions for your high school counselor. Also, a standard google search will help you as well. Go visit colleges in your area that you are interested in and ask the nursing department these questions. You could even go on their websites and get their email and phone number to get in touch with them. Good luck.
No one can tell you what direction to go in, you have to do that on your own. The questions you ask are very basic and can be found by googling.

Hi, I used to be in the same situation like you before , so I understand ur feeling. I'd like to try my best to help you out, give you some ideas about nursing.
1) ADN =associate degree in nursing
2) BSN = bachelor degree in nursing
So yeah, you need to take general educational (GE ) courses to earn your degree at the end. You don't need to take all GE classes before taking prerequisites. Depending on ur strength in study, you can take 1-2 core prerequisites with some GE classes which you think you can handle. It's the best that you talk with counselor. They can answer your questions and help you set up an educational plan for what classes or when you can take them.
To take the road ADN, and then do RN-BSN program or go straight to BSN , you have to be the person who decide it . We can't help you with it. You can google. There are many topics in this forum about it. However, since it's very competitive in applying for nursing program, I recommend you to apply for both ADN and BSN programs to see how things work out unless you are strong-confident in your choice-school.
