Hello everyone,
I was just wondering if anyone had any advice on the most efficient and cost effective way to proceed with my NP? I am very close to finishing up an MSN- CNL, I have been an ED RN for 10yrs with an ADN, and a BS in biology. I am interested in certificate programs etc... anything that any of you know of. I also was interested in any loan forgiveness/scholarship programs that are worthwhile. I have amassed a large amount of educational debt and would like to find some way to offset it and also any future debt from my NP but have not had much luck with scholarships I apply but they are very specific and seem to always have some hook that disqualifies me. Anyway, thanks in advance for any input you may have, lastly I am a Federal employee if that helps any, I have not been able to find any funding/scholarship programs through work but maybe there are programs that I don't know about?
Thank you in advance
Lunah, MSN, RN

Welcome to allnurses! Sounds like a post-Master's program would work well for you. Have you looked into loan repayment via HRSA? Loan Repayment Programs - NHSC

I was actually just discussing this with someone today (i dont have any good solutions/answers), as im close to also graduating with an MSN in leadership.
I was thinking of just going for my DNP which would only take another 2 years.
I dont have any good advice about the loans/such other than im only looking at state schools

if you already have a MSN, a post-masters certificate would likely take just 2-3 semesters to get your FNP. as a general rule, you will want to explore the Nurse Corps forgiveness programs and any state loan forgiveness programs. for most, if you work in a 'rural' or 'underserved' population area, you will qualify for forgiveness, but you also need to seek work for an employer who applies to be a 'loan forgiveness provider'. it is all very confusing, but generally very do-able too! good luck!
